The fourth league game of the season saw a long journey to Wodson Park with only 12 men, leaving plenty of thought for what could happen. The poor weather conditions and lack of players would not dampen their spirits as they managed to earn their first win of the season and move away from danger at the foot of the table.

The game started similarly to that of the opening three league fixtures as they conceded the first goal. Conceding goals has been the problem for Buckigham so far this season and it proved the same again. The game was quickly turned on its head however, as Luke Tavener’s low pass into the box found younger brother Jordan Tavener who turned his man and finished with his left foot for his third in as many games.

Luke McAndrew then popped up with his first ever goal for Buckingham Athletic when he headed home from the a corner and to take his side into half time with a 2-1 lead. The goal made him only Athletic’s third scorer of the season as he adjusted to his new role as a centre midfielder.

The second half was full of sloppy play from both sides as the weather and pitch conditions took its toll and neither side could control the game properly, with people's touches and long passes both seemingly tough to pull off. The equaliser didn't come until 15 minutes to go as Wodson Park pounced on a drop from goalkeeper Richard Tiller, although it was controversially not given as a foul, to bring the game level.

The winner came from Athletic when Jordan Tavener found Jamie Carter who scored his second league goal of the season and to secure the victory for the visitors to send them home with all the points. Man of the match was Luke McAndrew as he fantastically fitted into a new role in midfield rather than full back and stood out from the rest despite being just 16.

Larry Woodward was happy to claim a first victory of the season
