Buckingham Athletic produced another stellar second half performance to cruise to a 4-2 victory over Didcot, taking away their perfect record and continuing their own, now on three wins out of three. Again, it was Ben Acquaye was the star as he carries on his fine start to the season to claim another brace from midfield and seems a real star for the future.

The game started slow and that has become a feature to the side who cannot seem to find early goals in this early part of the season. They did find the opener eventually when Sam Olawale laid up Acquaye, who went on a run past several players and finished coolly past the keeper. The defensive frailties has been an issue in the early part of the season as well as goals continue to be shipped due to injuries and lack of options. This led to to the visitors claiming an equaliser to go in at the break at 1-1.

The second half saw Buckingham control the play and eventually take a foothold in the game. Goals by Sam Olawle and Geraint Minney meant Athletic held a 3-1 lead and looked on course to pick up all three points once again. Knowing the next goal was vital, Buckingham failed to keep out the Didcot attack once more to have huge pressure on the hosts to see the game off.

The side started to play more conservative once the deficit was down to one and several injuries led to players playing out of position. Grit in the final 15 minutes was crucial to try and secure victory and with Didcot pushing for an equaliser, Buckingham were able to counter and were suddenly 3 on 1 and Acquaye rounded the keeper and slotted into the ended net, go claim victory.

A great team performance from Buckingham really earned them the win and the individual brilliance or Ben Acquaye continues to take the league by storm. This squad could be on for a successful season.
