Buckingham Athletic suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Great Horwood in the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup on Saturday as they continued to struggle with goals, with some star forwards not available. Hosting the game, Buckingham Athletic were expected to win and enter the 3rd round of the tournament, but now the focus turns back to the league as they looked to get back on track and climb the table.

The side had just picked up some momentum and won two games in a row in the league, but this recent defeat has put them back on the low they were on before. The lack of flow of the game was completely different from how things had been recently for them when they have managed maximum points. Mark Carter’s side now need to rebuild the momentum going into the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup.

The hosts never really got going and there was no flow to their game. The lack of goals has been a concern on and off for a while and with top scorer Robbie Carter not available, things were always going to be slightly harder, but no one assumed they were lose here. When the goal came for Great Horwood, nothing changed from Buckingham as they continued to create little opportunities for themselves.

After recent wins against Wodson Park and Ampthill, Buckingham Athletic now look to claim three wins in a row when they travel to Southall on Saturday.
