Buckingham Athletic Development Team claimed a third successive league win when they beat Biggleswade Development team 2-1 to climb to seventh in the league. Larry Woodward went for his recently preferred formation of 5-3-2, deploying wing backs. The win now sees them just two points off fourth with an away game Homer Green coming up on Saturday.

The game was lacking clear-cut chances and also lacking some quality but Buckingham did find the lead when a through ball found Andrew Hind, who managed to find the corner, neatly and scored his first goal for the club. The hosts looked to defend their look and with 5 defenders covering the front men, they looked more than able to hold on for the win.

The second half began well for the visitors as they managed to put on some early pressure which eventually led to the equaliser. This reset the mentality of the hosts and now had to look for the winner and it didn’t take long to come. Second half substitute Luke Tavener crossed into the box, finding younger brother Jordan from right wing back to find the net after a deflection.

The final 30 minutes were again going to be Athletic defending and holding on for the win. Solid performances from man of the match Mark O’Dell, Dan McAndrew, Kieran Cozens, and Adam Judd saw the spine decline any opportunity of a late fightback. The game was made slightly easier for the hosts when the visitors were decreased to 10 men, but the pressure still occurred.

Buckingham Athletic did hang on however for their third successive victory with them now seventh and the confidence is starting to flow. They now have the chance to to climb the table once again at Holmer Green on Saturday.
