Buckingham Athletic hosted Brimsdown on Saturday, hoping to end a run of five consecutive defeats in all competitions. Buckingham Athletic were in need of a victory after recent games had left them sliding down the table. They were gifted by coming against a side who had only won one game all season and were bottom of the league on just four points.
Things were comfortable from the start for the hosts as they played some good football and managed to take the lead from a goal from youngster, Jamie Sylvester, who opened his account for the club on just his second appearance for the club. It didn't take him long to find a second either, as he doubles his tally to confirm his brace before half time, and give his side a comfortable lead.
The second half was equally as comfortable for them as Mark Carter praised his sides attitude, “I have to give enormous credit to the lads for their attitude and work rate.” His pleasure was down to the ruthlessness of their play as they managed to keep going forward rather than just to protect their lead. They extended their lead eventually when Josh Hopper scored his fourth goal of the season, confirming the win for Athletic.
The win leaves them 13th in the league after they've played 15 games, and try will be looking to use this game as confidence going into their next few games, to try and climb the table and challenge their 8th placed finish of last season.
