Buckingham Athletic's Under 18’s secured their sixth successive league victory and their first away win since the opening day of the season as they hammered Chesham United 4-1 to complete the double over their opponents. The magic of Jamie Sylvester produced a couple of goals on the night and the improved defensive solidity continues to be shown as they limited their hosts to only one goal. Also the goals from Nathan Tshikuna and Jordan Tavener helped to maintain their spot at the top of the league.
The first half was a struggle for Buckingham as they failed to create as many chances as they usually would and they also allowed Chesham to have a couple of chances where Laurence Mills had to react quickly to save his team. A lack of clear cut opportunities frustrated Buckingham as they looked to maintain their winning streak but the chance finally came when Ben Acquaye was taken down by the Chesham goalkeeper to claim a penalty. Nathan Tshikuna placed his spot kick in the bottom corner to take the lead.
Half time saw them lead but still not in full swing as they looked to extend their lead with the introduction of Jordan Tavener at half time. Shortly after the restart, it was Tshikuna again who scored as his inch perfect left footed strike nestled into the top corner. The visitors then won a free kick in a dangerous area. Sylvester put in a remarkable ball, which was put on a plate for Tavener as he could just tap past the keeper, extending their lead to three goals just 15 minutes into the second half.
The three points was wrapped up shortly after as Sylvester's flicked pass threaded through Tavener who took it passed the keeper and finished to score his second of the night. More chances occurred for Buckingham as Tavener went close to scoring his third, but it was the hosts who scored the final goal as a long range effort was the best of the night as it left Mills with no chance in goal.
The win leaves Buckingham top of the league and as they have already beaten their rivals for the title they look in good position to go on to claim the league title this season.
